Rear Disc Conversion

Postby GKandR4CH » Tue Jan 10, 2012 1:37 am

As some of you know I toyed with the idea of getting rid of my brake drums.
Well I spotted an axle on the Bay and it had the rear disc hub setup on it and it was kindly collected by Vale.
I am hoping he will stick some pics on this post shortly.
So all I need now is some nice drilled and grooved rear discs, 2010/11 handbrake cable and 2 flexi brake pipes.
The pads are brand new in the calipers.
Well chuffed.
Keep an eye out for the 'how to fit these' coming soon.

Will try and take some today.
First job is to remove the sub axles from the axle.

Thank god the guy didn't cut the abs wires when removed from van.

I just orgasm'd.
Yes if the hoses fit would save me £25.00 on 2 hoses however there is a difference in the 2 looking at a diagram.
Those springs do look nice!! :D

have had a play with the stub axles today.all taken apart ready to fit to gks van

have found the brake pipe are the same so dont need replacing, looks like you just need to change the handbrake cable.

looks to me like a simply job, what colour do you want these calipers gk?

And what good news.... You can reuse the existing brake hoses as they are the same size and all I need is the handbrake cable.
Stay tuned for the 'how to' conversion on Monday!!!

they maybe, i dont know

these came from a 2010 connect, think all 110 connects have rear disc brakes.
you do have to change the stub axles as there is a extra bit with 2 extra holes for the calipers
