If your using them as day running lights then they are probably to close to the centre of the vehicle, I don't think you'll have any problems though. :)

You can buy a DRL relay on the Bay which will control them correctly. On with ignition off with headlights.

If you need help with connecting correctly can send you connection project where they will work with ignition and will be off when you swicht on position lights.

Also shuld be not lower than 20cm from the road and minimum 80cm distance between them (that european law in countries where you need to drive the all day) but im not sure if its same in the UK as we dont need drive on the lights all day

Ebay relay is about 15-20paunds and you can do this your self for 1 paund or free if you have any no needed 2 position 12v relay.

The ideal relay for the control of these lights is a split charge relay, as used on towbars for charging caravan batteries and powering the fridge when towing... The voltage sensing ones are best and a doddle to fit, they switch off at about 12.5v and switch on when the alternator is pumping....

Available from most good Motor Factors.

p.s The lights look good by the way

What about trying them above the bumper next to the headlights?

I am a LED freak so u all know lol any were there’s a space there’s an LED
If I can find a picture of my old escort all will be explained

Old post but it save making a new one.
I'm wanting to put some day running lights on my van and have then on a switch in the shelf bit under the steering wheel.
Just a few questions...
Were would be a good place to get power from?
Is there any easy access from the cabin to the engine bay to run my cable?
Any help would be great thanks :D

You could take a 12V+ live feed from the Engine bay Fuse Box from Fuse F22 or direct from Battery & run through a relay & Connect the relay switch wire to pin 4 (GN/YE) on the Headlight switch plug. This way the DRL will come on with ignition is switch on & switched off when headlights are turned on.

They do not have to turn off when headlights are turn on  I have factory DRL on my 2012 Vauxhall Insignia & they stay on even when headlamps are on (Athough headlamps turns on automatically)

They should dim if they're taking the place of the parking/side lights, if they're separate from the parking/side lights then they can turn off or dim.

Ok, erm... so is that like a normaly closed relay then?
So you turn your iggnition on and the relay is closed so it lets power through to the DRLs, then when you switch the lights on it will pull the contactor out turning the DRLs off?
Were could i get one of these relays from?
And how do i get cables to the head light switch?
cheers for the help
