Deadlocks not working?

Postby DHOCARL » Wed May 23, 2012 8:51 pm

evening caps

recently bought an 05 connect LWB and the dead locks do not activate with fob nor key, standard locks work fine but nothing happens when lock button is pressed twice nor at key.

i've checked the plugs in the side loading and rear OS door. Nothing appears to be out of the ordinary other that the lock making a whining noise on the back door when unlocking. Alarm doesn't appear to work either, could they be connected?

if anyone has experienced a similar issue or has any ideas I'd be grateful

My 56 reg is same. Sometimes the deadlocks work, most of the time they don't!

I had the same issue on my 02 Connect when i first bought it, turned out my catch was slightly worn on the sliding door so adjusted it inwards and has been as good as gold since.

A good way to establish that it is that thats at fault, with the door fully shut try pushing the back edge of the door further inwards where the black plastic lock blank is, while holding the door in that position try double locking it - if you don't know already, the lights should flash if its working and you will hear the door motors go for a second time. Don't be too hard pushing on the door for obvious reasons.

Another port of call could be the pin contacts again on the sliding door, they can wear and sometimes break up causing a connection failure.

Also, the alarm does not work on single lock only when double locked so both issues will be linked.

Hope that helps.

My 56 reg has a mind of its own in this department. I'd say the deadlocks work 1 time in every 30 locks. Pissing me off as my tools are kept inside

Please note:-

Althought the connects were fitted with central locking, NOT all vans have dead locking or Alarm !

You might find that yours may be one of them. Best way to confirm if you van has dead locking & Alarm, is to check the Central locking module.

if it has the following on the label :-

CL DL RF AS IS - Then van has remote central locking with deadlocking & alarm with interior sensors

CL DL RF - Then van has remote central locking with dead locking - BUT NO alarm

CL RF - Then van has remote central locking BUT NO dead locking or alarm

My 2003 connect has remote central locking with dead locking but no alarm fitted. The indicators flash when you dead lock the van. On my central locking module it has CD DL RF on the label.

I do have both front door looms available if anyone wants them.
They where removed from my van as I replaced them with ones from a 2008 connect complete with elec windows & elec mirrors.

Remove glove box, there you will see fuse panel, central locking module is located behind the fuse panel (you have to unbolt fuse panel & move it out of the way to gain access to the module)

module looks like this

you can also find the same module in the Ford focus
