Breathing new life into my Connect

Postby dieselboy1978 » Mon May 28, 2012 10:07 pm

Well a little while ago I got myself a Transit Connect.
The partners Freelander VCD and Transfer Box blew up and I was looking at £1600 in parts to fix myself so I bought a van and she got my car.
I kitted the back out with the usual ply lining and then carpeted the van's ply lining as well. Then I fitted it out with a split charger from the main battery to a spare battery behind the bulk head and a 600W power inverter.
I thought that was going to be it until I stumbled across this forum. Bad news for the bank account!
Anyway I do 100 miles a day in my van to and from work and I am in the trade as a Diesel Fuel Injection Engineer so thought what the hell. Do it up!
This is the van before I started to do it up.

Then I decided to remove all the trim (bumpers front and rear and wheel arches and get them painted back.

Also I got some Mondeo Mk3 Alloys and sent them away for full refurbishment.
Look amazing now I have them back.

I have taken all both door cards, centre console, and all grey trim for painting black. Also I have some acoustic carpet which will be put down in the van on the floor drivers and passengers side before all the interior I have removed for painting goes back in.
Van is going to be lowered by VALETECH this Sunday
Have also purchased the rear disc conversion and new discs from GK.
I am not pretending it to be a ST or anything, just breath new life into my Connect.

Be interested to hear your views/ thoughts.
Cheers guys.
More pics to follow later on through stages.

All bumpers and arches back now from bodyshop. Sprayed in black.
Am looking to put a hint of lime green into my van. somewhere inside little hints.
Will keep you guys posted.
Question, clear indicator side repeaters, what ones are people fitting?

I've been looking at mine and was thinking about either doing everything white or the bumpers white with the arches gunmetal grey.
Was it easy getting the arches off?

Easy to take off.
Torx 30 bolt when you open door, 10 mm bolt on front of the wheel arch and rest of it is held on with just push in clips.
