White smoke, missfire and rattle

I have a 2004 Transit connect LX TDCI 1753cc. Over the last 3 months when starting from cold there is white smoke coming from the exhaust and getting progresively worse. 2 Weeks ago the smoke has got realy bad and there is a missfire at about 1500 revs, also the is a rattle from what sounds like top end bearings. This only happens when the motor is cold and dissapears after a couple of miles or so when the motor warms up.
I have had the injectors overhauled at Colchester Fuel Injection but this has made no difference at all.
Any suggestions please.

Have you checked for head gasket failure. But my initial thoughts were injectors. There is a thread on here about a guy who has his injectors overhauled. But still had the same problem. I'm not saying the place who done yours are not good but ...... Have a read of his thread viewtopic.php?f=54&t=108175
Your problem sounds similar to mine and injectors sorted my issues.

Sound like you could have some glowplugs not working, i would first check that you have power at the glowplugs, if that is ok you will then have to check each plug individually.
