Connect Engine Cutting out

Hi all,

I have a 53 plate 1.8 TD connect. Few weeks back it started just cutting out on odd occasions whilst driving and would not start again straight away. All you get is the ignition lights but no starter motor engaging and the mileage goes to ----------- .I thought it was the Auto Watch imobilisor so ripped that out but now it even worse and once you start it it runs for a few seconds then dies and all you get is the ignition lights, no starter engaging and the mileage says ----------- . After leaving it for quite a while it will start but after few seconds you get the same happen! HELP, ANY IDEAS GUYS!!!?!!!

not sure if you sorted the problem by now - you checked the aux belt hasnt come off (belt that functions the alternator) mine wouldnt start and it cos the aux belt came off and meant alternator couldnt charge battery, also made my mialge clock go ---------
