Postby gt_addict » Tue Aug 21, 2012 7:52 am

Hi guys,

Could someone tell me what I need to be able to bypass the EGR core on a 2004 90ps tdci t230 please?

Thanks,

Peter.

just get a piece of copper tubing or a plastic joining piece from b+q or somewhere like that about 3-4 inches long the same size as the internal bore of the pipes, take the 2 pipes off and fit to the copper tubing with jubilee clips

Also is there any long term affects of bypassing it as I can't afford a new cooler at £371 lol

My EGR cooler has been bypassed for a long time, but i've also blanked the EGR so i thought bypassing it was the way to go.

My mileage is 227,000 and i don't think its caused any issues.

What did you bypass yours with as I'm struggling to find something the right diameter that won't crush when I do the jubilee clips up. I don't want to have to get hose joiners, I just want a bit of pipe that fits straight in.

I've also blanked my EGR aswell.

I've seen a second hand cooler on eBay (221043810691) from a t230 lwb but it says it's from a 73hp model. I didn't think they put that engine in the lwb? It looks the same though, reckon its worth a shot?

Yea a second hand one is £50 a new one is £371 from fords.

I can't see any leaks on the engine, water pump or radiator. There's no water in the oil so the only place I can think of (after reading various posts on here) is the EGR cooler.

How much are you losing?

Just looked at mine and was completely amazed its still got it's pipes attached  Must have had trouble getting a decent seal so ended up with them back connected!

I've found my spare cooler if you want it posting down pm me your name and address and i'll get it sent off. I could do with one back though, so if you could post me the one you don't need back. Even if it leaks i'll still have it as i want to use it to fabricate something to do away with the silly thing......

I'm losing the max to min mark on the resovoir over 5 days. It's not a lot really only about a mug full over 200 miles.

I'd like to make sure it's that's that leaking first so might well get a couple of hose joiners from the motor factors as join the hoses if that's what you've done?
