Transit connect under powered?

Postby waynerp » Tue Aug 28, 2012 6:17 pm

Hi all.
I am a happy new owner of a 53plate SILVER transit connect lx tddi swb.
It's done 153000+ miles, had 7 previous owners, but is in quite tidy condition.
Now having always been a lover and driver of 4.5 litre petrol cars, I have grown used to speed and acceleration I guess, so I wasn't expecting any comparison, but my connect does seem to be coming up a bit short. Even going up a slight incline requires dropping down through the gears, and on a steep incline I am causing tail backs, without any load in the back. I drove my friends Renault kango with a 1.7 diesel and it definatley had more power.
It's just sailed through the mot, and I've had an oil change, oil filter, air filter, so was wandering if any of you guys could suggest anything. First and foremost I need reliabilty, then I want to start tidying up.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Hi, alot of people have and will recommend having the van remapped for some extra grunt, a well known tuner is vantuner with a very good reputation so a remap plus a couple other extra mods like a focus air box with cold air feed should see you with some extra power. There's quite alot of info about the mentioned points just hit the search button and you'll get loads pop up with advice on it.
