Misaligned rear wheels when lowering?

Postby zombiechad » Tue Sep 25, 2012 12:52 am

Can someone explain to me how to avoid the wheels not being spaced evenly in the wheel well after lowering? Are the new plates that get welded to the bottom of the axle parallel to the old plates and are the new holes in line with the old holes like in this picture?

It looks like you need to offset it 15mm back right?

Well, I should have done this a long time ago. I very accurately modeled the rear suspension in cad and it is very apparent that when you flip the axle and then raise the rear with longer shackles, it moves the axle forward .515". This is easy to accommodate with my custom parts I am having made. No more stabbing in the dark. If anyone has any questions on lowering (like shackle lengths), I would be glad to help.

There's the answer, don't raise the rear! Lower the front with coilovers to level out

the first thing to check is the leaf springs are on the right way,as the pin is NOT in the middle

the problem is people are welding there brackets in the wrong place.tip the axle back when welding the plate on.this will move the wheels back

if you have a petrol uk spec van you need to make a recess
