Speakers crackling when radio is off

Postby Bailey. » Tue Oct 02, 2012 10:36 pm

After the van being parked up for a few days since buying it, it was moved into the garage tonight for a valet and mop and polish and the guy calls me in saying "what is this noise" the van had all the doors shut and the speakers were crackling. Fairly loudly too. When I opened the door it continued. It stopped when is but it again. Any ideas???

Water in the speaker wiring shouldn't cause them to crackle when the stereo is turned off though.

The second suggestion sounds likely, water in the stereo after the valet. The stereo is powered all the time so if water gets behind the front panel it could cause this fault.
