Changing the lock on the slam panel to fit an updated grill, is it possible to inter change the barrel from the 2003 van version and fit it into the uprated locking mechanism on the 2006 model or would this mean ordering a new one as I want to keep the same key etc. has anyone done this or could advise cheers.

To fit this mk2 grill :-



You will require just the bonnet lock key barrel only, As the actual bonnet catch is the same on all models.

here is a pic of the 2003-2006 & 2006-2009 onwards bonnet key barrel





As you can see the 2006-2009 barrel is alot longer ! Unfortunately the 2003 barrel is way too short (when mk2 grill is fitted you can't unlock the bonnet as you can't get key in barrel!)
Also the later key barrel sits slightly lower than the early one.

Are the barrels interchangable or does this mean that you have to buy a new barrel and a new key to unlock it cheers.

The bonnet lock key barrel from a 2006-2012 will fit on a 2003 connect

The internals from 2003-2006 bonnet lock key barrel will NOT fit into a 2006 onwards one - THEY ARE TOO SHORT !

You can buy a new one- Ford part No F1491607 Retail Price £45.06 exc VAT - it comes complete with 2 keys

or buy a second hand one or complete lock set - MUST come from a late 2006 or newer connect !
