TRANSIT CONNECT 53 PLATE PROBLEMS

HELLO NEW TO THIS FORUM SO IF I TEND TO BE DUMB WHEN IT COMES TO MACHANICS WELL I AM THE THING IS I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY TRANSIT CONNECT ENDURO DEISEL 1.8 DI 2003 PLATE IT STARTED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM LIGHTS THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STARTED RACEING AFTER 100 YARDS LOST ALL POWER WHEN I PREESED THE ACCELERATOR NOTHING HAPPENED BUT THE ENGINE WAS STILL IDLING TURNED OFF ENGINE WAITED HALF HOUR STARTED ENGINE ALL OK ACCELARATION ALL FINE ALL WELL BUT FELT THE ENGINE LOSING POWER ON MOTERWAYS ONLY SLIGHT THEN LAST NIGHT WENT AGAIN NO WARNING LIGHT ON DASH NOWT MANAGED TO CRAWL HOME DOING ABOUT 10 MPH LEFT IT AGAIN HEY PRESTO ALL OK UNTILL I GOT ABOUT HALF A MILE THEN DIED AGAIN ENGINE IDLING OK NO LIGHTS NO OIL ON ROAD PLEASE COULD SOMEONE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE AS I DONT WONT TO GO TO AGARAGE WITHOUT KNOWING SOMETHING

Could be a faulty throttle pedal

ake would any lights come on if the fuel pump fuel filter wher faulty or dirty i do hope it is the pedel as like yourself am a heating engineer and finding it tough going

The fuel filter won't usually put any lights on, but its the cheapest thing to try
Pedals are a common failing, but some guys have tried removing them, and spraying the insides with loads of WD40, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!

Does your glow plug light come on at start up?
Does it flash whilst driving?

hello again ake yes the glow plugs light comes on when starting then goes off glow light does not flash when driving no warning lights at all when driving

Sounds to me like a throttle pedal issue, try doing a search on here and see if any sound similar.

I had the same kind of problem on Friday.
Whilst driving to work doing 40 mph all of a sudden i had no throttle and the multifunction light came on ?, i coasted to a pull in and sat with car ticking over smoothly. Turned the engine off for 20 seconds and started up again, all fine. Got 100 yds down the road and felt the car was increasing speed with me not doing anything, dipped the clutch and the revs shot up. Turned the ignition off and started up again and all was fine. Have not had the problem since ???
