After Market Alarm Suggestions

Postby waynerp » Sat Oct 20, 2012 8:46 pm

Hi ALL
i am thinking about getting an after market alarm for my 53 connect.
i assume the connect has some form of factory fitted immobiliser as standard? or is it just central locking?
if not can anyone recommend any after market alarms?

Many thanks

Does he A850 use its own fob or the Ford fob, I want an alarm on mine but I dont want to muck up the locking that is got at the mo, 3 button key so I can work the front doors independently from the rear doors

I've got a toad ai606 on mine. Seems todo the job perfect. Have a ongoing problem with the back doors not locking but I think that's todo with the vans wiring loom/ lock mechanism

I fitted a Toad A850 to my Connie, it uses the existing Ford fob..... Great bit of kit and easy self fit...

having a quick read up, do you need to have remote central locking for the A850 to work?
mine has central locking but not remote central locking

Mine had central locking but no remote central locking as wasnt fitted.
Alarm guy now has my van remote central locking. Unlocks front doors with 1 unlock and then side loading door and rear doors on 2nd unlock.

These Toad A850 alarms, are they only armed \ disarmed with the remote , what happens if the fob battery goes flat and you have to use the key to open the van how do you switch the alarm off

Thanks

it disarms when the door is unlocked with the key, they also have a pin code switch too that you can disarm it with.

Ok, the A850 takes its triggeres to arm and disarm from the central locking system of the vehicle, whether it's fob operated or key operated. I've wired mine to only set by the second press of the fob, i.e. double deadlocking. Therefore if the next time the vehicle is unlocked and it was only set with one press it goes off instantly, this reminds me to always double lock Connie!

For those of you without remote locking a seperate radio fob and receiver can be added, these are available from the likes of CPC Farnell on the 'tinterweb...

Hope this sheds a little light on matters...

Not that i'm saying i'm average, i'm a easy 8 out of 10
but very average with electrics on a van !!!
i'll shut the F**k up now

I agree, what is the point of that, I want something that is not disarmed by the key just incase
