vans down on power badly !

Postby kjdiscos » Thu Nov 22, 2012 3:18 am

ok here goes

no EML lights on the dash at all
Scanned with F super all clean
Checked intercooler bellows apart from slightly oil all good, but have replaced anyway,

I have noticed on the drivers side, The solid pipe that comes accross the block has sheared of its mounting bolts, Can put pictures on if need be.

in lower gears its fine, but up hills it realy struggles like having to drop down to 3rd to get up, where before she would breeze up in 5 or one drop to 4th.

Not sure what else to suggest or try.

Any pointers guys thanks

Any split in the hard plastic pipe across the engine that's sheared off?

I had an issue with the thin hard plastic pipe that's on the EGR valve to a solenoid on the bulkhead. It had snapped before the rubber end and after a couple of seconds on boost it would die.

If so you know where it connects in the side of the egr into a small rubber pipe, Well its split, The solid pipe is fine, Can i get a replacement bit of rubber from ford do you know ???

It goes in here right ? onto like a small rubber pipe, about an inch or 2 long curved

That's the pipe. Some regular vacuum hose will do the job. Has done on mine since mine split. Replacement from fords is around £15 iirc.

The rubber is moulded to the pipe. Mine split on the EGR end. You could try taping it up with electrical tape?

The vacuum hose was a quick fix. Literally it lost power as soon as it came on boost so limped it to the nearest motor factors and bought a metre length of 3mm vacuum hose (i think). I just fitted both ends and tried driving again. Van didn't want to know again. A metre was too long so cut it to a similar length as the hard pipe and she's been fine ever since. Not entirely sure whether it was a placebo affect but since the vacuum hose instead of the hard pipe it felt like it came on boost stronger.

Yep just pulls off both ends. Very tight fit though and getting a vacuum hose on there was fun too lol

they didnt have any stock,

so ive repaired the old one with self almagamting tape, and shes back to going up hills again :) at 75 to 80in 5th no drop down :)

so im happy again,

took it on ran on f super but noted there was no BAR reading, although its definately a million times better so dunno maybe glitch with system

Glad you got it sorted mate. I've got a new part sitting in the vans glovebox but I just can't be arsed to fit it. She's running fine with the vacuum hose on so why rock the boat

That tape might have to be a new edition to the glovebox now then :)
