Warranty Direct insurance

Postby lightning » Fri Nov 23, 2012 10:58 am

Warranty Direct mechanical breakdown insurance.

Has anybody got one of these policies? It seems like it might be a good deal. The quote for my 2008 Connect TDCi was £400 per year and it covers pretty much everything including injectors, fuel pump, turbo etc

Parts are covered 100% up to 60,000 miles and then you have to contribute towards the parts cost on a sliding scale
60-70,000 miles 20%
70-80,000 miles 30%
80-90,000 miles 40% etc

Labour is covered but if you want the vehicle to go to Ford for repairs the policy costs an extra £100 per year....the £400 quote is for repairs by an indy garage. Also the van has to be serviced by a VAT registered garage according to the service schedule, so no more home servicing.

What do people on here think of this? I've never seen it mentioned before.

I bought a policy when I got my van; but not from Warranty Direct. Mine is £250 a year and on anything that fails they'll pay up to £975 parts and labour; plus I have to pay £25 on each claim. My van is up for it's second MOT this Feb so I'm going to take it back to the garage I bought it from (not a Ford main dealer) as they do all the warranty work anyway as they've run with the same scheme so long.
It may be worth having a shop around to see if you can get a better deal!

If the van does not already have a FSH done by VAT registed place then don't waste your money on the warranty as they will wiggle out of it.

Also any diagnosis of a problem you have to pay for as they don't cover diagnosis and that can be expensive.

I have delt with them in the past as I was the manger of a big autocentre and all warranty companies are like snakes in the grass very slippery and will do there best to reject a claim.

Best advice I can give you is put so much money away each week incase of any problems.

Marty h makes much sense, you're better off self insuring yourself.

Put the money into a savings account and keep adding to it.
