Dashboard colour change.

Postby always1more » Wed Nov 28, 2012 10:31 am

Good morning,

Just bought a 02 connect and the dashboard and door cards need some TLC. How do I change the dull grey colour to matt black ? Do I need plastic primer ?

Cheers,

Me personally would not be spraying interior trims especially not a dash as the sun on it is bound to cause flaking and cracking in the paint. If you want a black dash if they made them black from standard simply fit another dash and a set of door cards that are black may take a bit longer to do but at least it will not end up looking like a dogs dinner.

the dash did not come in black, only two shades of grey and then a cream which came in the Tourneo connect. Im sure the dash can be painted without flaking but i would say that the spraying would be best left to a professional to get a good finish. Another option would be to flock the dash.

Thanks marty and matt,

I'm not going to go into changing the dash, reason I asked as I seen in the "what have you done to your connect" some nice pictures in the thread of good looking interiors.

Just wizzed the seats out here and the plastic floor, will have to replace some underlay, would Siloflex be ok to stick underlay or maybe grip fill ?

I fitted a complete dash from a 2008 connect into my van :D

Better colour as its Dark Pewter, my 2003 connect original dash was light gray

The Dash complete with steel support, Door cards, Elec windows & Elec mirrors all came from a 2008 connect that was broken up.

The gear shift knob was very simple to fit, just had to remove the lift-up reverse gear selector that are fitted to all early connects
