Transit Connect Accelerator Failure

Hi All,
This morning my accelerator on my transit connect failed twice on the way to work. The power just disappeared and there were no revs when I pushed the pedal regardless what gear. I thought I was in real trouble but when I turned the van off and then back on it worked perfectly again. This happened twice. It was a wet morning and I did drive through some puddles but nothing out of the ordinary. I am wondering if something may have gotten wet causing it to fail or should I be more worried? The can is from 2006, I bought it almost a year ago and have had no other problems. 75bhp if that makes any difference.

You need a new pedal assembly, common failing on Connects and MK6 Transits.
Did you get any fault lights when it failed?

Never got any warning and no lights came on on the dash. Thanks for the reply. Is it an expensive fix would you know?

I got a 2nd hand pedal for my focus (I am assuming its the same) for £15 and it took 5 minutes to change
