Multi function warning light

I have a problem with my 52 plate 1.8TDDi 75ps, that I was hoping someone may be able to guide me on. I was driving yesterday, when the multi function warning light came on and I thought that I had stalled. The engine was still running though the accelerator had no impact at all. I switched the engine off and restarted, but the same thing happened again 2 miles further on. I live in a rural area and don't have a garage with diagnostics very near and mobile mechanics don't seem to cover me either.Has any one come across this or similar before? Any advice or comments would be much appreciated.

Sounds like it needs a new pedal, fairly common problem

Hi. Many thanks for that. Is that a part that would be easy to obtain from a breakers for example do you think?

I personally wouldn't get one from a breaker, as it could well be nearly as bad as yours
I would get a new one, easy to fit yourself, job done
