Diamond White "Cellulose"

Postby always1more » Mon Dec 10, 2012 9:48 pm

Good evening,

Anybody had to touch up their Diamond White paintwork ?

Did you use Cellulose or Two Pack paint.

I'm ok spraying with Cellulose the Two Pack I don't have a proper mask but somebody told me a while back if your spraying 2pack outside then it should not be a problem aslong as you have some sort of mask on because of the cynide.

So for the finish is it Cellulose basecoat and Laquer or 2 pack paint.

I'm asking this because today I took the drives trim off the door as it looked a feckin mess as the previous owner had stuck it back with glue, white silicon, and clear and beneath it the paint has come off and rusted so I need to touch it up now as I've taken the four trims off as I might just colour code them in the summer or may just leave them off.

Cheers :)

On my 1999 tranny i bought a near side replaced panel for the bottom of the rear door nearside,I then went and bought high build grey primer and white cellulose paint trade,The amount i bought cost about £60 all in.On a rare hot day this last summer i sprayed 4 coats of primer over all the rear of the van/4 wheel arches/and all along the bottom. Then about 3 coats of white it looked great when i finished and the paint was drying in minutes in the sun.I have 2 compressors in my garage so had plenty of wind. 2x 3hp 50 LTR.

Hello Marauder :)

Thanks for the reply.

I think it's safer long term for me to stick with the Cellulose, it will have to be done now the drivers door as like I said the door trim was bodged and there is a bit a rust now in the recess which I'll remove and put some epoxy in there. Can't wait to get the front bumper sprayed as well.

Excellent m8 you have made my mind up, pictures to follow :)

I sprayed my front and rear bumpers the other month with a couple of black rattle cans and they turned out ok.The reason i did not paint bumpers white was i was worrying about stones chipping off the white paint on the bumper as you then get black chip marks.

That's a good point m8 with the stone chips, I can live with them though on the bumper. Been looking on egay today and they do Diamond White in Cellulose gloss so no need for laquer over the top, I've always thought though laquer over the top is protection against petrol and also makes the finish hard as a shell.
