Limp mode and revving high.

Postby always1more » Wed Dec 12, 2012 5:01 pm

Hello peeps,

Missus telephoned me dinner time today to say the car won't start, so off I went in the T200.

Just approaching a set of traffic lights on Red so was slowing down when the the van revved upto 3k on it's own then the engine management light came on and the van slowed right down like the engine went off, it did when I turned her off and restarted and all was fine.

Got the car jump started (every Xmas I seem to need a new battery as it's cold out there) just arriving back into our Street and the van decided to rev it's plums off again to 3k this time no Engine management light.

Just been out for Diesel and to take the dog for a run and the van ran fine so whatever is happening can't be that serious or can it :?:

Any ideas please chaps as I've only had the van around 3 weeks now and the lad did say now and again the van revs high but ok when you turn it off and restart her.

Sounds like the classic accelerator pedal to me. Around £100 from fords or you could risk a second hand one. Just make sure its for your year and te right plug as there are two types, one for earlier connects and one for later ones.

Thanks gt addict for the advise :)

Story of my life, £100 to fix. It will have to wait as I've bought a battery now for the car
