Power loss

Have an 03 T200 thats done 60,000 miles and recently have noticed a power loss,downhill on local dual carriageway will do over
90mph no probs,but uphill only 60 mph when usually would do 80 mph,acceleration is also lacking.
Seems ok in all other ways and isent misfiring in any noticable ways,wonder if ive filled with some bad diesel,as cant think of any
reason why my usually quickish van is suddenly sluggish.
Tips please for things to check that may be causing probs.

I always run my van on vpower diesel have done since I got it as well as changing all the filters and definitely goes a lot better then it did. Also I would advise not using Tesco fuel have seen a lot of agro because of there fuel.

Change your diesel filter and get some good fuel in it

Your power loss could be a number of issues, no doubt you've read the current posts on the subject and used the search, like everyone does!!! .
I would suggest getting the fault codes read in the first instance. This will point you in the right direction of any fault.

Only mentioned fuel as my son has stopped using sainsburys because he says his VW van run like sh*t after fueling there
and id had no probs in the past.

Never knew about fault codes as have never used a ford garage since buying secondhand 5 years ago,and have allways changed oil
ect myself ever since.......so may now get checked.

I would suggest getting the fault codes read in the first instance. This will point you in the right direction of any fault.

Fault codes would mean me spending money i can ill afford,to find a problem i could "perhaps" find from helpful posters who may suggest

Filters/electrics/pump/binding brakes ect ect ect and as a pensioner can ill afford paying Hartwell Ford £30 per hour to sort

Very true wouldent argue against that,but have just spoke to my grandson on the phone,and he says he will check to see no split turbo pipes,
and says he will spray some decoke stuff in,and will generally have a quick gander at it afore i try and book it in to fords.

Dont hurt to check a few things out before afore booking in,just seems a little strange 20 mph slower with no other noticable defects

Simple things first won't be a negative thing though.

Service ,

Correct 5w-30 semi or fully, oil filter air filter (this could be full of water if the top hasn't been fitted correctly) common.
Fuel filter correct ford one.

Check you can move waste gate rod.

Blank egr valve.

Ignore the water in filter , not common n connects just mk6 transits.

Grandson nipped by yesterday,spent 2 nimutes tightening up some hoses,and when he,d gone i road tested up the 60mph hill,
and got 70mph,it was also more responsive..........Great result
On his suggestion ill buy new filter,for him to fit,and he left a can of 10k boost were gonna shove in to clear the crap from the
motor /exhaust and when empty gonna use the better quality diesel innit,Appy it now goes much better an wen done,may even give
my Civic R a run fer its money
