Rough running under load

I have a T200 57 plate 1.8 tdci. Went down and back from Herts to S Wales at weekend engine started to intermittently run rough when getting close to 3000 revs. Any ideas what to look at first.

When did it last have a full service ??

Usually do interim service myself, last full service approx 1 year, 10k ago.

Are you thinking fuel filter?

Yes as under load it needs more fuel and whe you back off the peddle a bit it gives it time to catch up the supply i had a vauxhall once that had the same problem and the filter had only been on for 5k it turned out to be bad fuel from local filling station that had contaminated the filter

Thanks, I was thinking the same, as I backed off each time to get it to pick up. It seemed Fuel or air starvation but just checking for other possibles. Cheers
