throttle issue

Postby nyron gaf » Mon Jan 14, 2013 3:04 pm

Hi there everyone, quite new to this site, having throttle issues. Bought a connect t200 08 plate content about 4 months ago, when I test drove, seller pointed out that there was an issue when u throttle it, gets up to about 2500rpm then loses power, then intermittently catches bac up, for May b a good couple of month it was fine, problem seemed to go away, however, last week problem came back, even worst than before, after searching then forum, I noticed a lot of replies saying try the throttle pedal, so at the cost of £96.80, I bought a new pedal tried it and its still doing exactly the same thing, even in neutral when I rev it loses power and the needle drops down, also I've noticed that since the problem came bac the temp gauge doesn't seem to go up much, not sure if this to do with me not being able to throttle it more, not sure what to do next, please if anyone can help or point me in the right direction, best regards, Nyron

Have you checked to see if both boost hoses expand when it's revved. If try do that would rule out a blockage in te inlet track. Have you checked the air filter is good etc? Just check simple/cheap things first.

Not sure what im looking for, where exactly in the engine bay can I find these hoses, haven't changed fuel filter or checked air filter as yet.
Today on the way home from work was playing up really bad, eventually the engine decided to stall, started her bac up and just made it home :?

Boost hoses are the two black bumpy ones near te front of the engine block. About 4inches long each and a couple of diameter. The air filter is in the air box to the right hand side of the engine bay as you face it ;)

Boost hoses will expand as you rev it. They should be held tightly by two jubilee clips. They are a flexible hose so can be squashed by hand. They shouldn't be spinning round or anything though. You can take them off and clean them just by undoing the clips.

Fuel filter will be a replacement job. A Bosch one from eurocarparts is the cheapest option. There's no actual servicing of the filter as its a sealed item. If you do replace it then fill it with fresh diesel first right to the top as you don't want to get air in the fuel system as its a right buggar to sort out.

Popped to Lloyds at white city yesterday to pick up fuel filter, wacked it on filling it up first with diesel as advised by u guyz, started up, took for run and everything seems ok, feels like its running better than it has ever run since I've had her, thanks so much for all the advice, will try to return throttle pedal to ford and get me 100 quid back, would like to know, the filters got 3 pipes, not sure where they go to, 1 I think is the feed from the tank, where do the others go :D

One is feed from the tank, other goes to injectors and the third is rerun from the injectors I think. It's running so you just have got them in the right order lol

Vantuner does postal remaps for £150, but you can get a remap done and tweak it there and then if you're willing to travel as they are around £250 I think.

The gains are more power and more torque. I had my 90ps tdci remapped by vantuner and it totally transformed the van. I reckon I've gained 20-25hp and god knows how much torque. It's still te same economy when driven sensibly but it's got the power there when I need it.
