Heated screen !!!!!

Postby justyjust » Tue Jan 15, 2013 11:12 am

Just waiting in the Toby having a breakfast waiting for my new heated screen to be installed on my transit connect LX 02, got a call from auto glass and he tells me the heated screen has no wire or not even been connect.

I brought the van thinking it has a heated screen, the van had a cracked screen when I brought it so I looked in the fuse box and thought the fuse was out because the cracking may continue so I left it.

Anyways today I get told there is no wiring to the screen!, he offered to install a standard screen but I said just fit the heated so I can maybe connect it up.
Can anyone help????

Van spec
Transit connect 220lx
Heated & electric mirrors (cannot get mirrors to move)
Armed seat
CD player
Hub caps
Fog lights

Thanks all

My 220LX has a heated screen. Unless it was an optional on the LX, thought it came with.
Has he checked under the plastic of the windscreen?

My van didn't have a heated screen as standard, I did what you did when the standard one broke, and had the glass company fit a heated one.....mine's just wired through a couple of relays through an existing but unused 60 amp feed in the fusebox which we split into two seperate 30 amp feeds.....these go to to a switch that was already in the dash and not being used.....only downside is that you have to remember to turn it off yourself.

I've got the factory switch, but I'm told it's complicated to make it work without the proper timer relays, and as yet I haven't pursued it. Nothing's impossible, I'll make it work when I can be arsed! The odd thing about the factory timer relay is that it also seems to have something to do with the aircon, which I find a bit puzzling, as that obviously isn't on a timer.

Thanks all Paul i did see your post but was a little lost with it all, currently i have heated mirror switch, internal circulating switch, 12v out, lighter.
do you have a heated windscreen switch???
the power to the screen comes from the under bonnet fuse box?? in the cabin fuse box there is metal connects for the screen fuse.
were do the relays connect in the cabin fuse box, i do have a couple of empty locations.

The heated mirror switch is also for the switch for heated screens in rear doors (basically when you turn heated mirrors on the rear heated screens also turn on)
**if fitted.

Both the heated mirrors & heated rear screen are powered by the same relay located in fuse panel behind glovebox.

I have just posted a way to retrofit a heated front windscreen to connect Lx models from 2003-2006 with heated elec mirros here
