RETROFIT HEATED WINDSCREEN TO CONNECT LX MODELS 2003-2006

As we know the heated mirrors & heated rear screen are controlled by the same heated rear screen switch (although you may not have windows on the rear doors )

For members that have the Connect 2003 - 2006 LX model with heated elec mirrors, but no heated front windscreen. but wish to fit a heated windscreen, so it works on timer

I have the solution

Heres how to wire up a heated front windcreen (retrofit)

First the basic wiring digram (well it is too me )



Fuse location for heated rear screens



Relay location for heated elec mirrors & heated rear screens (both run on same relay )



All you require is a 60A fuse, the correct amp rated wiring & 60A relay.
Wire up the relay as shown in wiring diagram. For the relay to work, it MUST be connected to PIN 5 (GN/BU) ON PLUG C10 on the back of fuse panel (located behind glove box)



By wiring the front heated screen this way. you can turn it on by pressing the heated rear screen button on centre console & will be automatically turned off as it should be

& is the safest as there is no overloading on current wiring loom !

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CONNECT THE HEATED FRONT WINDSCREEN DIRECT TO THE HEATED MIRROR/REAR SCREEN RELAY ! IT WILL BURN OUT FUSE PANEL & YOUR WIRING LOOM !

HEATED REAR SCREENS ARE RATED TO 25A MAX

HEATED FRONT WINDSCREENS ARE RATED TO 60A MAX

On connects from 2006-2009, they use a different fuse panel with a GEM module -(CANBUS) incorperated/built into it.

It is possible to add a the correct wiring for a heated screen (NOT RETROFIT)

Unfortunately the CANBUS will need to be reprogrammed ! (updated, so that it knows the vehicle has a heated front screen fitted)

Yes this will work on a 2003 T220 Lx as long as it has factory heated wing mirrors as standard
Once retrofit is done. Press the heated rear screen button, it will turn on the heated mirrors as normal & also turns on the heated front windscreen at the same time

Ps if I took photo's all they would show is :- Fuse panel with fuses & relays, front windscreen, wing mirrors & heated rear screen button, thats all

If you follow the instructions provided, everything will work as it should with no problems.

thanks for the info, how long of a job is it do you think? i have found a donor connect down the scrappy could i just remove the cables from that???
I do have a problem with my mirrors which i cannot get to work, they heat up but don't move when direction knob is moved can you help???

Quite likely the switch is buggered...it seems pretty handily placed for collecting water when the door's open in the rain....

You could, but it can get very complicated if you have little knowleadge of vehicle electrical systems.

If both wing mirrors not moving, first thing to check is the fuse (F47 5A) . If thats ok, using a multimeter check to see if theres a 12v+ feed for drivers door mirror - the wire colour is OG/YE & located inside drivers door

The GND (Earth) for both mirrors should be fine as the door lock, elec window, door ajar switch all uses the same GND wire.

Tested the voltage on the fuse 14v but on the door orange/yellow I'm only getting 0.36v why would I be loosing voltage??
Is there a relay for the heated mirrors?

Maybe realy No 9 in fuse box behind glove box that does the heated rear window so it may double up for mirrors

The heated wing mirrors are operated by relay k1

Guess what just took it out put it back in, now I can't get the mota to start. Immobiliser light keeps flashing and not starting tryied both keys

led keeps flashing fast then stop and flashes slowly 20 times, there is no pat code for 20 ;(

Relay K1 is only for the heated part of mirrors & rear window heater.

still got this issue with these electric mirror not operating, tested the yellow orange still only low voltage 0.3v this is at the switch.
where does this wire run back to?? the fuse box or somewhere else.
Or should i just pull the dash out and trace it back??
