My van came with the aeriel missing, all that is left is the base and a small stud coming out of it.

Can I remove the stud to fit an aftermarket one or is the stud a permanent fixture in the base? I've tried two which were lying in a mates garage but neither of them fitted.

What have you guys done??

You should be able to take the base off the roof by undoing the bolt under te headlining in the cab. I suppose you could fit what you wanted to it after that. Or just drop into a scrappy and get one off another ford.

I was mainly wondering if the actual stud comes out the base or is it fixed permanently to the base?

I have just looked at an old base I have and no mate it will not come out

so looks like a trip to the scrapyard for a proper Ford one or a trip to the dealer probs with a 2nd mortgage! Cheers for the info,

Remove the interior cab light and unbolt the base unit. Cable to the stereo is separate. You can buy a new base and whip ariel individually from your stealer. IIRC the base is under £20
