Postby easyclean windows » Sat Mar 03, 2007 5:22 pm

Hi people i would liek to ask any off you if you haev a transit connect about the wiring for the alternator.

I need to find the no charge light as i am fitting a slit charge reay.

Apart from the main red battery cable and a small grey wire which i have disconnected and the engine doset start ,are only 3 other wires a blue, grey, and red.I have disconected but the battery light still comes on and off as normal so i was wondering if any of you knew which one it is as i have disconnected the ones i have but the charge light only comes on and off as normal?

thanks

There aint much info on here about the Connect mate.

I think only a few people actually own them too as they arent regarded as a "proper" Transit.

It's got "smart charge" so the light is switched by the pcm (engine brain) you'll have to a smart type relay that switchs at charging voltage

This is £11.25 from http://www.towsure.co.uk

Self-Switching Combination Relay
H78
The self-switching combination relay is straightforward to fit and supplies power to the caravan's +12v, battery charging and refrigerator supplies only when the vehicles engine is running and the alternator is providing enough output. It automatically prioritises charging of the vehicle battery over all other functions, and requires no connection into the vehicle's alternator or ECU wiring
