What do all the different model numbers and letters mean?

Postby coffee_king » Sat Dec 21, 2013 4:33 pm

Hey all
I'm surprised there isn't a Newbie Sticky for this already, but can anyone advise what all the different model numbers and letters equate to with a Ford Transit Connect?

Like:-
TDCi
TDDi
T200
T200L
T220L
230
T230
LX
LX110
LX90
BHPA
ST
L75
L90
Trend

I'm assuming the below:-
TDi - Turbo Diesel Injection
SWB - Short Wheel base
LWB - Long Wheel Base
HR - High Roof
75PS - 75 Horse power?
90PS - 90 Horse power?
110PS - 110 Horse power?

Thanks

TDCI & TDDI are 2 different engine types, both are Turbo diesels
BHPA is engine code for 90ps TDCI engine.

Trend, Limited are 2 different models of connects from 2009 onwards
There's is a Transit Connect Sportvan - No such thing as a Transit connect ST (doesn't exist)
LX is the extra feature pack (heated screens/mirrors, Aircon, electric window etc)
T200 / T220 / T230 are all different models.
For example T200 is a SWB low roof & T230 is a LWB Hi roof & can carry a heavier payload than T200

2009 Jaguar X-Type 2.0D

Thanks for that.
So where does T220 sit in the equation please?

Also is the TDDI better than the TDCI?
What does the D/C stand for?
Turbo Diesel XXXXXX Injection?

T = Turbo
220 is the Gross Vehicle Weight in kilos (x10 = 2200kg)
Tddi = Turbo Diesel Direct Injection
Tdci = Turbo Diesel Common Rail Injection

Tddi on these are only 75ps engines (E&OE)
Tdci are 90ps and 110ps (I Think, E&OE)
1994 Mk4 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (R.I.P.)
1997 Mk5 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (Gone, but not forgotten!)
2004 Mk6 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.0 TDDi - Vantunered (Also gone)
2008 Mk7 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.2 TDCi - Also Vantunered

TDCI & TDDI are NOT 2 different engine types, both are the same engine with a different fuel & engine management system on them, the TDCI has a slightly different combustion chamber design for the C.R system
Please don't send me PM's, i can't access them, when I try I get this:

So rather than saying 75ps, people just say L75 instead?

I would have thought that the L means its a LWB, 75 means it's a 75ps, but I've not heard of one called an L75 before :?

On the full size Transit an 85T280S means it's an 85ps, Turbo, 2800kg GVW, Short Wheel Base
1994 Mk4 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (R.I.P.)
1997 Mk5 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (Gone, but not forgotten!)
2004 Mk6 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.0 TDDi - Vantunered (Also gone)
2008 Mk7 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.2 TDCi - Also Vantunered

So, pre 2009 would the highest spec SWB would be a

1.8 Tdci 110ps LX
(not worrying too much about the Gross Vehicle Weight)?

Anything after around 2006 will be a 1.8 TDCi (unless it's petrol/LPG) The highest output is, I think 110ps (not quite the same as BHP, but very close) and LX is a high spec, but it may not be the highest, (I don't know, sorry) You still need to work out whether you want short or long wheel base, and/or low or high roof, which you can't tell from those numbers

I'm after a SWB low roof.
I thought all SWB were low roof, and all LWB were hi roofs?
