Garage have just fitted a new EGR valve , but there are still error codes , what will happen if I just ignore the codes

when they fitted the new EGR valve , they noticed that the little bar with the wheel bairings inside the exhaust manifold housing ( rotes the fly thingy ) were missing , so they made a new rod to fit it , but still error codes

been informed by garage that they cannot fix this fault unless another manifold is installed , either a second hand one or new one , by question is , if the valve is made to stay open all the time , how will this effect the engine ??

I may have a brand new manifold, depending if you have an anti shudder valve fitted, i purchased one complete with egr, but only fitted the egr, so manifold is surplus to requirements.

make a blank 1st and get fault code cleared.......20min job and cheap......to begin with make a solid blank, if light comes on drill a 5mm hole in it, can't see it wanting the inlet manifold......done this with mine 8)

Just get the EGR deleted in software, cost of £30-£60 depending on who does it.

answer to a old problem I had with my EGR , after the garage fitted what I thought was a new egr , and them charging me £220 , the van was in the garage for a unrelated egr problem , when the mechanic came out and asked who fitted the egr blanking plate , I went off it , fooking robbing garage ripped me off .......so let trading standards deal with them now

Under new MOT rules (from 20th may 2018). EGR valve blanked off, tampered with, missing will result in automatic MOT refusal.
