Mk1 connect mpg

I’m thinking of getting a petrol connect but without lpg

What do you get to a tank in one compared to a diesel 1.8?

I dunno about the petrol engine, but I get about 45MPG from my 2003 1.8 75ps TDDI Connect.
I don't think my driving habits are the best as I've only been driving 6 months, hope that gives you something to use as a comparison for any other fuel types.

Blimey you don't want much do you :)

My calcs are as follows, long time since I left school so they might be a litte inacurrate

Cost of fuel 1.33 per litre
58 litre tank = £77.14 to fill it to the brim
4.55 litres per gallon = 12.75 gallons

Current MPG from computer 46, mines a 90 PS mapped to 110 & better ecconomy = 586 miles per full tank of fuel

Hope that helps

I've got a standard 1.8TDCI 110bhp T230 and I just recently managed to get 468 miles until my fuel light came on.

I drive mostly on dual carriageways at 60mph or thereabouts and carry between 100kg - 300kg of weight.

I hope this is of help.

Just look up the mpg of a mk1 Focus 1.8 zetec as a starting point no? Or even the mpg of a 1.8 zetec transit connect? Then look up the mpg of the diesel??... Just an idea. The handbook will tell you - you can find them online as a PDF...

Hi all,

For my 1.8 petrol Connect:

100km/h and no load 1:13 (L/km)

Average city and highway use 1/11 (L/km)

Bud speed up your driving or fully loaded the full consumption will go up rappidly. Even up to 1/8 (L/km)....

My other car is therefore a Smart Roadster, on a sportive driving style it does 1/20 (L/km). So it's a good pair, the Connect for fun, comfort travelling and payloads. The Smart for fun and economy. Goal was for the monthly driving costs of a new familysize car drive something with fun factor and something really suitable for transporting payloads without concerns for ruining the interior. And turned out that the Connect afther some tweaking hase his own unique fun factor for driving and for a van the looks, i'm happy with the couple.

No worries mate. Lucky you got a petrol connect, would love to do a swap on my engine, but the work involved is not worth my time and expense. If i win the lottery i will go for an RS engine upgrade :) the van is crying out to have this done :) All the best mate.

Cheers for that mate! I have spent many drops of blood, sweat and dosh over the last 5 years on it. The Zetec turbo would again be a great plan, but if i spoon this diesel lump out, i would go for an RS lump, but garage time is at a premium right now, and i don't have the knowledge (or funds) for inserting either unit, but, if i was to pay for it to be done, i would rather an RS lump - the whole hog. All just adds up to time and money in the end! :(

Good luck with yours pal, maybe consider a turbo conversion for yours??
