Transit connect 2010 trend egr valve issues

Postby Shaunford » Sat Sep 22, 2018 12:23 pm

Hi I recently bought a 2010 transit connect 1.8tdci
It had an egr valve replacement a month ago, it struggles a bit to pull away at times and this week had engine malfunction come up! I took tona garage who plugged it in and said egr fault, reset it and went away for 5 mins then was back, I’ve unolugged the egr and now runs absolutely fine well I think! The tone of engine sounds normal and no faults come up now. I’ve noticed I’m using a small amount of coolant minimal, every time I plug egr valve back in it runs rough, I have taken egr valve motor head off and isn’t clogged and seems to be working and also the other side twists freely. I’m confused and was hoping to seek some impartial advice before taking back to mechanic. When being driven it does feel a little held back. Oil look fine and water looks clean. If anyone could please advise me it would be greatly appreciated

Did they say what the fault code was? Either fault code or description? Sometimes other fault codes emerge from existing or previous faults.

It look like a new part, probably a cheap eBay part. Will it do any damage driving with it unplugged? The van seems to operate normal with it unplugged, no smoking, bad idle or lumpiness. I had engine malfunction warning and also esp warning, no faults at all since being unplugged. Thanks for your responses
