2018 Connect - New steering wheel?

Postby Isaak_Sirko » Wed Oct 24, 2018 7:00 pm

Dear All,

I'm new to this forum as I just bought a 2018 Transit Connect 1.5 TDCI with 120PS and 6 speed manual.

It has the old Connect steering wheel as attached.

I would like to retrofit a 2018 Ford Focus steering wheel as indeed attached!

1. I know the airbag will not fit (different shape), but that is the easiest to get one.

2. I fitted it, but the buttons are not working with the original setup. As far as I know the possible solution is to replace the airbag ring for the one in the 2018 Focus, but I don't have an airbag ring to try this theory out! :(

I have an airbag ring from a 2014 Focus that is produced in 2014, but it's not working either.

Do you have any ideas?

Thank you very much in advance!

Cheers, mate! That one I know! ;) This steering wheel is an at least 10 years old design. Ford thought it could be a money saver solution to not upgrade the steering wheel in a car that has some kind of "brand new" interior.

As I wrote earlier: I would like to upgrade one to another!

I hope some of the real enthusiast here can help me out on this one!

Ok, got you now. You just need to have the Focus steering wheel coded to your van. You’ll need IDS.

Are you sure? Do you do stuff like this? If not, is here anyone who does?

Thanks!

Nevermind the steering wheel. There's a single-DIN radio there!
