2018 Transit connect rear view mirror/camera

Hi there,

Just bought a 2018 transit connect SWB. Below is the current bracket on my windscreen with the shrouds removed. Photo attached.


My plan is to buy a rear view mirror that has a camera built into it for looking forward to record and a camera at the rear number plate to reverse. The problem is I cannot connect it to the flat face on the bracket I have. Can I buy a bracket to replace it? I would add more photos but I was only able to attach one..

That plastic bit slides off, the mirror 1 has a ball on the end and you screw that through to the mirror.

You can buy the correct piece or just buy a custom /later ford mirror complete and swap them over. The glass is left with a metal block on it when you remove that plastic bracket.

I bought this 1 none ford but fits great, the custom has a big plastic shell though and I needed to drill it to give me space.

Straight swap I think.

You might have a tab that you push with something then slide the plastic up or down to remove it carefully

Hi there. I have a 17 plate crew van and want to fit a rear view mirror, so same problem. There are mounts on eBay but do not know how to fasten to the bracket on the screen 4783331 part number. Same issue as you.
Unfortunately no traditional scrap yard to rummage and find something to fit from another Ford.
Someone must know how.

See above, first remove the plastic bit that is fastened to the window which leaves a metal block on the glass which then the new mirror fits straight onto.

Hi Loot.
I glanced at mine and could not figure how to fasten/clip to the ally bracket on the screen/rain sensor mount. Can see some grooves in photo.
I will pull the trim off this weekend and look again. Thanks

The tab locks it down so just gently lever it then push the plastic, mine was very stiff so you might need to persuade it. I doubt the metal block under it that is bonded to the glass will come off but you don't want to break the glass lol.

The exterior plastic trim pages onto this if you look in the image you'll see tram lines on the front, these locate into the outer trim. That all needs removing first to reveal this.

Photo below of the bracket that’s on the new dual lense rear view camera. I highly doubt it will fit staright on to the metal clip and my original shrouds can go back on to cover the electric box.. thinking of buying a ford mirror and doctoring the parts to suit..

Can anyone post a photo of a factory fitted rear view mirror in a transit connect swb 2017/18?? May help me try work out a solution..

Bought one and waiting for delivery. When it comes I will take pics. I think I understand now as I was trying to figure out how to fasten to the big block and not only the small bracket that is fastened directly to the screen. Thanks to all for pics etc. to explain to Plebs like me!

Can someone tell me how the plastic shroud is removed to end up with the photo in the original post?

I'm not sure in which direction it comes off but it feels like my pulling,prising is about to break the whole thing!!
