Erratic temp gauge

Postby thameside » Mon Mar 25, 2019 10:19 pm

Hi

I have currently got an erratic temp gauge and was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Sometimes it is ok and resets when I do a gauge sweep in the test mode, but most times it will not reset and will remain half way and not move when I turn off the ignition, so the next time I drive the van the temp will increase from this point and will go passed the red. I have also had it where is has gone all the way round to about the 6 or 7 o'clock position. The gauge itself isn't smooth its quite jerky. Any help would be much appreciated.

What year of Connect have you got? It looks like it is the gauge at fault from the results of the self test! If its an older one (like mine) easiest thing to do is buy a cheap (but fully working) center binnacle from a scrappy or fleabay. I got one for £10 to use as a temporary while mine was being serviced. It saves spending money on a diagnosis. And swapping the binnacles over is very straight forward, even if you are not that mechanically minded. Just take your time. If you find this is indeed the culprit, then maybe spend a bit more on another decent one?

It's a 2005, did think the gauge itself might be faulty. Do you know how much it cost to get them serviced?

Can be quite expensive, I paid £110. Still far cheaper than a new one!
