1.8TTDI no start, not even a click of the starter

Postby markm1975 » Thu Jul 25, 2019 11:28 am

Looking for some help.

I've been trying to help my neighbour. They have a ford Connect 2005 1.8TDDI 75hp. Driving it one day and it just stopped.

Now it wont start. No turn over . I cant even hear the click of the starter or any relays and the battery is good as its new. If you leave the battery off for 30 mins you can see the mileage on the clocks. Then if you try to start it the mileage vanished and you just get - - - - - - . Just off the turn of the key.

Through a recommendation, we've fitted known to work ECU. Central locking module. Clocks. Internal fuse board and immo aerial and new inner barrel switch. Still the same.

Any ideas what else it is?

The van needs an auto electrician to test the circuitry.

Bet that 'someone' wasn't a ford technician. The thing is,whoever owns the van won't want to spend serious money on it
especially since it isn't worth much anyway. Occasionally if your very lucky, someone has a specific fault that gets fixed,
and if you have exactly the same problem BINGO! your fault is identified and it gets sorted too.The problem you or your
neighbour has, is your problem is so vague it could be anything, so it needs a proper technician, with the proper diagnostics
equipment to diagnose the fault, and believe me, they ain't cheap.

That's his problem. He doesnt wa t to spend the money on it past the £75 hes spent.

£50 an hour for a good auto electrician and hell spend more than it's worth

.hes going to scrap it once I've got the new parts out lol
