1.8 TDCi - Glow plug and cutting out

Postby Gemmabrum » Sat Jan 04, 2020 10:57 pm

Hello,

Hoping someone can help as we are just going round in circles at the moment. We have a Ford Transit Connect 1.8 TDCi 2003.

Seems to be the same issue as what i have seen multiple times on here. Driving the van and then the glow plug will flash (it used to be anything over 2,500 - 3,000 rpm) and then the van will cut out. I can turn the engine off and on and it starts every time without fail. It also seems to be worse when the van is low on diesel.

We have done the following:

-Fuel filter changed - Checked old filter and there was no swarf
-Changed Camshaft Sensor
-Changed all 4 injectors to fully re-conned injectors (from reputable diesel specialist)

Changed the injectors yesterday and van is still cutting out although now at higher revs than before but now also have a lot of white smoke that smells quite strong and rough idle.

Is the current issues because the injectors need to be re-coded or am i missing something?

Any help/advise is appreciated as we are now stuck after spending out more money on injectors which don't seem to have solved the issue like we would have hoped.
