2003 Connect Central Locking / Fuse Issue

Postby chuffedas » Tue Apr 14, 2020 11:53 am

I hope it is ok to start a fresh topic with a more exact title.

The back and side doors don't open. (well, the back door does, but only from the inside, so be careful how you load )
The side door is missing its lock. so I am guessing it failed or got broken into.
I have no remote fob. Just a key. That key is a copy. The old one was just a smooth bar.
Anyway, the poiint is, that you can't lock the van.
You turn the key, everything locks...... wait a second ....... everything unlocks again.
So, I assume the fact that there is probably no lock on the side at all might not be helping this.
I am trying to work out how to just use the key to lock and unlock and ignore the central lockiing.
My best guess is remove the fuse.
But I can't guess which one.
I looked it up and it says 163. Can't find that. Highest inside goes up to 63.
I think the manual says it should be a triangle on the code sticker in the glove box, but there is none.
Would this work? Or just set of the alarm permanently or something?
Cheers.

Hi I am having similar problems with mine, I have a 2004 but only 1 key which doesnt have any buttons on.
I understand from what I have read the to access fuse 63 you must undo the 2 bolts that hold the fuse box in place behind the glove box.
I have just tried myself but not a lot of room. Would appreciate a photo of where this fuse goes as I couldn't see a fuse, just a load of wires. Maybe someone removed it on mine as I have to manually lock and unlock each door individually.

:D
Sounds lke the opposite issue eh?

Have you managed to access the back of the fuse panel (this is the one that goes up to 62 right?)
I have undone the bolts, pushed in the tabs and have no movement.

Is the idea that it pushes through?
I assume it then becomes a bit clearer?

OK, never mind.
Sussed it.
Is just a bit of a wiggle isn't it?
Well, it is def fuse 63.
It actually says 63 if you can get close to it.
It is the only fuse . Yellow (20 amp).
Now to try and remember how to post a photo.

Now to decide what bit next.
The oil leak?
Being able to open the back door?
The possible welding needed at the rear spring bracket?

Thank you so much, I was about to set fire to van through frustration.
Couldn't quiet turn fuse box around but see you dropped it out of bottom.
Thanks for posting the photo as I couldn't see where it was. Think someone removed it in mine.
A picture paints a thousand words.

Nice one.
It helped me too.
I was stuck.
I didn't know the fuse was there.
I can lock my doors now which is nice.

Good luck.

Same here, just fixed it. Driver and passenger door works, rear doors not playing but will have to look at that another time.

I'm too late to the party, the image is gone and I'm about to pull everything out to find this damn fusebox
In the manual is said behind instrument cluster
I look from underneath and only see wires, no blue fuses.
