Rear view camera fuse

Postby Elliottwade7 » Fri Mar 26, 2021 2:15 pm

Hi,

I have a Transit Connect 1.5 TDCi 120ps SWB van 18 plate.

It has a factory fitted rear view camera, recently the camera no longer works. When I put it into reverse it goes to a blue screen. And then says camera is unavailable.

The first thing I wanted to check was the fuse. But I cannot find the fuse location. All the manuals tell me there is a fuse box in the load compartment but there is not one anywhere. I’ll attach a photo as to where it said it should be. Any ideas where this fuse could be?

Thank you

Is there any way you can check power to the camera itself?

I’ve tried unplugging the camera altogether and still comes up with same message and display when I try reversing without the camera plugged in. So I’m presuming it’s to do with power. Confusing how all manuals tell me there is a fuse box in the load compartment but nothing there.

Is it not powered by the same feed as the reversing lights

Are they working :?:

Seems as though the camera is dead. I presume the screen comes on when selecting reverse? The screen possibly works just the same as any monitor or tv. So if the screen fires up, but has no input, it will say just that. Ideally, it would make sense to try connecting another camera up to see if that then produces an input, but it's not that easy to lay your hands on another im guessing, and would take a bit of doing :(

Yeah I’ve just put my camera into a colleagues camera input of the same van and it works fine. So the camera isn’t faulty.
I definitely think there is fuse gone somewhere as the camera doesn’t seem to get power. The screen just goes mr a blue screen when put in reverse, the camera doesn’t even turn on for a second!

Just finding that fuse is a mystery!

Good. The process of elimination is working. Try the rear fuse panel - fuse number F29 (5A) i know very little of the more recent connects. I found this with a quick Google of the fuse compartments. (This is usually a US version, so may differ!)

This is where my problem is, that fuse box just doesn’t exist in the van. Every Manual I have checked said there is a fuse box located in the rear luggage compartment but there is none, from my first post you can see a pic where it’s supposed to be :(

I have just been flicking between the photos posted on this thread. I may be wrong, but it looks like the photo showing the lack of a fusebox may well be in the left side of vehicle, where the pic showing where it should be is the right side! Worth a look on the other side for a small cover!

I have this same exact issue.

I looked at the manual and confirmed all fuses in the engine compartment and behind the glovebox.

All of the fuses for the "cargo compartment" deal with a passenger Transit and not the cargo van (no seats) EXCEPT the backup camera.

So the backup camera fuse has got to be SOMEWHERE all by itself.

I also cannot find this fuse on the Transit Connect cargo van.
