Alternator cable snapped at starter motor

Postby Smokedog » Sun Aug 22, 2021 12:18 pm

When putting this back on after alternator being removed the connector that is attached to the starter via a 10mm nut has rusted off.

Van not starting now any ideas where to get a new one or what the correct part is called? or if there is a fix, looks like the copper or metal has perished.

All I do is get a yellow insulated crimp on terminal and replace it you should have enough cable to do it if not you should be able to get the terminal for the alternator you used to be able to get them as a plug with the terminals to fit and makeup a new lead yourself.

Thanks for the response, it's not the end of the cable that attaches to the alternator that is okay it's about 8 inches back and just a connector that sticks out the side of the cable and is secured to the starter that's broke off

If it’s a ring terminal and the wire is long enough as I say you just need a crimping tool and a terminal I mentioned the alternator end because you can get a replacement plug to make up a lead if you do it yourself remove the earth off the battery.
