All good questions. And the answer to "are they any good " is........I'm not sure yet! They are very bright in comparison to what was in ( halogens ). The beam pattern seems spot on on dipped beam. No-one has flashed yet, so I'm assuming the height is set ok, although I've only driven in dusk with them on so far.
I managed to fit the foglight bulbs yesterday, which was easy on the drivers side and a right ballache on the n/s, due to the LED being longer than original due to the heatsink, and what might possibly ( not sure ) be the ecu mounted directly inside the splashguard, right behind the fitting for the foglight. Ingenuity was summoned and duly arrived and I managed to persuade it to fit when it probably really shouldn't have without more parts removal.
The cost is spectacular! I'm in for £275 for the 8 bulbs on the front ( foglights, dipped beam and high beam, and sidelights ) plus decoders for the dipped beams and foglights ( didn't do the indicators ), although there'll be a small deduction on that soon as I've been supplied with a set of decoders that don't fit anything, which I'll give back.
The first set of high beam bulbs worked but the fans didn't come on and the DRLs wouldn't function correctly. The new ones don't have fans, just a large heatsink, and worked correctly immediately without the need for decoders. I haven't had any error lights throughout the whole process.
It's getting dark, I'll nip out later and take some pics.
