Transit Connect won’t Start

Postby Robbo2347 » Tue Dec 28, 2021 4:23 pm

My Transit connect has been sat for just over a month. I went out to take it out for a drive and it wouldn’t start.

On inserting and turning the key in the ignition, all the lights come on and radio comes on, but I can not start the engine. Window wipers and heater/blowers don’t come on either. I have tried charging the battery a few times now but no joy.

Has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone have any idea what could be causing the problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sitting for a month in the cold, the battery could be fecked and now won't take a charge, first try using a known good battery, or jump start from a running vehicle to rule out your battery being flat.

so it runs when connected to another car.

probably means you have a bad earth, to the body / to the engine / corroded terminals etc .
also could be duff alternator ..do a voltage reading, should read something like plus 12.7 volts with engine running

all the best.mark
