Clock cluster failure - correct info required please

Postby Haughey1973 » Tue May 17, 2022 5:02 pm

Hi guys
Please help
My 2003 transit connect clocks have failed.
Stupid me searched and found advertisement to repair them for £65 in Oldham.
Posted them to this guy who returned them saying they are all fixed !!
But they are not :(
Speedo and rev counter still not working and the guy now says I need to take the van to Oldham for nil to reset the clocks
I’m in the West Midlands :(

Technical question please as I’ve been told by different people different things.
My clocks part number are 2TF1- 10849 -DE
Been told I can replace them by other part numbered clocks
2T1F - 10849 - DA
DB- DC & DC

IS this true !!!

Also been told by some that you just plug in the clocks and away you go -
other are telling me the clocks need reprogramming to my van and will need a good auto electrician that will reprogram the clocks and reset the milage to mine ???

IS this true !!!

Clocks don't need coding on the early mk 1. You can reset the mileage using forscan - I THINK - never done it myself though. The van will run without dash binnacle connected FYI. I had a spare set I used while mine were being repaired, and they were from a random mk1 and worked fine. I actually ran the van for a day with no clocks at all

does it matter whether the replacement clocks I buy have the 2 lcd displays ???? The one I've found only has 1 lcd display.
The part I've found also has the part number ends with DH not DE ???
but it is from a 2005 model

Not 100% sure. My original clocks have two lcd displays too, so the spare one I got was the same. I would hedge a bet that a single display unit would work, as it is only a clock after all :?: :? One of the seniors on here such as Paul2012 would know, but we would have to rub the lamp and hope to summon the genie!  Who knows what might happen! :D
