Oil light comes on, shifting goes bad says all solenoids are

Postby gufucowo » Fri Jun 10, 2022 10:27 am

Hello,

I have a 2012 Ford transit connect with 170,000 miles on it. I put a new transmission in about 2000 miles ago. I am getting an oil light that blinks on. When it does the car throws codes saying bad shift solenoids. I replaced the engine oil and made sure it was full. I put in a new oil pressure switch. I cleaned up the conector of the pressure switch and cleaned up the battery terminals just in case it wasn’t making a good connection. I’m still getting the oil pressure light coming on randomly. When it does the service wrench light comes on as a well as the check engine light. When I read the codes I get P0750 (shift solenoid A), P0755 (shift solenoid B), P0760 (shift solenoid C), P0765 (shift solenoid D), P0770 (shift solenoid D). With the new transmissionI don’t believe these are all bad. How and why are these coming on when the engine oil light comes on? Has anyone else had or seen this problem? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

Just to clarify ..this is a petrol/gasoline engine with automatic transmission is it ..

advice here ..is mainly based on diesel and manual boxes ..so there may not be too many answers

i for one , don't know the relationship between the shift solenoids and engine oil - it may be completely un-related

i assume shift solenoids are in the auto transmission

and this is a similar or same transmission being diagnosed

The engine oil problem ..low oil pressure ...is maybe related to old worn out engine ..me thinks , as an engine wears ..clearances get larger between the crank and main bearings etc, resulting in less pressure in the system as oil escapes. especially at idle.

You need to do further tests with a pressure gauge to confirm, in the mean time test wiring to the pressure sensor for high resistance.
