Transit connect heating issues

Postby Tommyk22 » Thu Aug 04, 2022 8:36 pm

Hi, I'm hoping someone here can help.

I have a 2012 transit connect 1.8tdci lwb, owned for 1 month and already giving me sh*t!

It over heated a few weeks ago, but not badly, lost some coolant. I found the thermostat housing had been repaired before with some liquid gasket, and had a small leak so I replaced it. Topped up the system and seems all okay.

I tried the heating the other day, and it was stone cold, so everything is not okay. The heating works from a cold start up until around normal operating temperature, then it's cold.

I've taken it to the local garage, and they think it is a blocked heater matrix, how can this be if I get heat for the first few minutes?

I can find any diagrams of the heating and cooling system?

Any incite would be greatly appreciated.

Did you buy the new thermostat housing complete with thermostat.

The thermostat for the diesel transit connect has a valve at the bottom that either opens or closes other passage ways

There are other thermostats for the petrol connect that don't have this valve.

Is it possible you bought a petrol thermostat?

Hi Mark, yes I brought a complete housing with thermostat included. Do you have a link to the correct thermostat, I've never seen a thermostat with more than one valve? Thanks Tom

but if its got the wrong stat installed , it will look like this one: or the above..just saying really looks like there are two types
