Rear hub bolt threads (2008 LWB T230)

Postby connectboy » Wed Aug 10, 2022 10:04 pm

My connect is a 2008 T230 LWB with rear drums, and they are the type where you have to removed the hub nut to get the drum off. I've just tried to loosen the hub nuts and found they are extremely tight.

Before I risk damaging anything by forcing them the wrong way, can anyone confirm the direction of the thread on both sides. The Haynes manual doesn't state anything about a reverse thread on one side so I'm getting the impression both sides are standard clockwise direction.

Didn't know they had those =-- my haynes manual makes no mention of them .

They may be like the focus ..where they have laminated petal type nuts that are "use once only" and cost a lot.

People take them off from the back to avoid undoing that nut ..there are 4 bolts or nuts at the back of the backplate ..that's if its like the focus.

if its like that ..then age and rust will be your enemy ..the last one i did was a focus and that was only 6 years old and they were a bugger...yours is 14 years old !

all the best..mark
