Something else we discovered while driving the van for 1 week. While we had the 215/50/R17 installed on our van, for 2 years our fuel economy was 19.4 with the new 245/40/R19 tires our fuel economy is now 25.6 and continues to increase. This is the first time our fuel economy has been over 25 mpg since purchasing the van back in April 2020.
So, not only has the transmission shuddering stopped, we're getting better fuel economy.. win win.
Oh and they say that if you don't scrub, then you're not low enough. Over the weekend while shopping, we drove over some railroad tracks and a few low humps in the road. Yep, the front tires scrubbed on something inside the wheel well. So it's official, we're actually part of the low life and never even knew it. Just to be on the safe side, we're not going to lower the front of the van as the Bilstein struts and factory coils are set at the perfect height. As for the rear of the van, we're going to order the 40mm rear set of Cobra coils in a few weeks and report our findings back to Cobra coils as they wanted to see if their European coil system will in fact fit on the North American Transit Connect.
