Dorman Products: Development of Shifter Cable Assembly

Postby LostinTransit » Tue Nov 29, 2022 12:07 pm

Based on my suggestion, I informed Dorman Products (North America) about the Ford Transit Connect transmission shifter cable bushing recall on some Connect models. In turn, they informed me that they are currently working on creating the problem solver for this recall.

This new type of shifter cable assembly would replace the nylon/plastic bushing as well as the entire shifter cable. Hoping this will be out soon as we''ll this installed on our van instead of going to dealership for their version. Look for this new shifter cable assembly soon.

Seems to me is all you have to do is drill out the nylon and glue in a steel bush ..you need a lathe to make the steel bush though.

all the best.mark
