Locking Module Failure ?

Good morning all,

Just wondering if the Locking Module has a fairly common failure rate ?

Not long had an 04 Connect and the Remote was missing so got another, but the locks don't "cycle" after the 8th turn of ignition - before getting the remote, I did check the vehicle spec and it has the "with door entry remote control unit".
