When they talk on here about different engines swapping etc ..they tell you to get certain ones ...they are on about a strait swap -- plug and play, a no messing swap
cause messing and changing things over ..most likely to cost a new gaskets each time , seals etc .and .they are not cheap ..inlet manifold gasket alone is £22 from ford
first two things.
the base unit 1.8 should be the same lynx if its a tddi for other tddi's lynx used from cars
the base unit 1.8 should be the same lynx if its a tdci for other tdci's lynx used from cars
base unit is block and head
Dont try to convert TDDI to a tdci .or vice versa .that would be hard.
if TDCI..the injectors will need coding or you can swap your old ones over in the same order ...thats if it has the sanme system on it
if it has a different make of injector pump ..will it be comparable with your ECU?
If you know the mileage of the new engine ..and if its anything over 50,000 swap the wetbelt either over to a new wetbelt or back to chain.
i Would also have the manifold off and do a de-coke on the manifold and inlet ports...because its a hell of a job ins-itu ..and they do get very clogged
Sorry very few here have done the swap ..
You are just going to have to look and stare at both engines and swap anything .
that is different.- NOTING
1. will it be comparable with your exhaust system ..meaning it will not bolt up to it ...do you need to swap manifold and turbo.
Think whatever make of turbo it had, it had a manifold to suit ..so there are different manifolds
2. The EGR, if it is different from yours: meaning manifold ..electrical plugs
3. hoses if they go different roots
or anything else that has a different electric plug on it .
plus have a look at the engine mounts ..heard that later focus ones were incomparable ...again it may be just possible to swap them over .
I'm Sure i answered all this a couple of weeks ago
