Well the only persons knowing..(not me) ..are the people who have handled the pumps .
I would expect the pump to be notchy ..as it has cams within it.
I know bugger all about the HP pumps ..except this ..there is one model that is lubricated with diesel and not engine oil... don't know which engines it belonged to.
One person here rebuilt his engine (sparkybandit)... with severe dents in the pistons, replaced a couple of valves ..once he eventually got it running ( NO COMPRESSION PROBLEM - he didn't know about needing the shims measured and replaced)...he seemed happy.
I say , take the head off ,,,take the sump off and assess the damage...
There is one common factor with all these wet belts ..the gunge they make seems to bugger up the brake vacuum pump.
If it has a lot of belt debris in the sump...what could happen is: the oil filter gets plugged and bypasses, it then sends un-filtered oil into the galleries.
If so>
All these need to be cleaned out , including a tiny plastic filter screen that is in the turbo oil feed line and the oil jets for under the pistons.
I think to get at the oil jets requires, removal of engine , as it has a ladder frame between the sump and block... and is bolted from within bell housing.
Dozing ..whats that ..is it a flush?
No, a flush would make things worse ..driving the debris (if it has them) further into the places its not supposed to go.
all the best.mark
